Reprints Desk Commits to Help Establish Libraries Worldwide in Support of Literacy and Gender Equality in Education

August 9, 2010

Santa Monica, Calif., August 9, 2010 – Reprints Desk, Inc., today announced the launch of the company’s first social responsibility program in which Reprints Desk will contribute a portion of every transaction – single article document delivery for research and bulk copies of scientific journal articles (“reprints”) for medical marketing and sales – to help non-profit organization Room to Read establish libraries in developing nations in support of literacy and gender equality in education.  The company, which delivered more than five million articles with other Derycz Scientific subsidiaries in 2009, announced that the first library will be built in Nepal and that the second location will be determined by customers.

“In the industrialized world, we hear a lot of talk in the information industry about library closures – a trend that Reprints Desk is committed to helping Room to Read counter-balance,” said Peter Derycz, President and Chief Executive Officer at Reprints Desk. “Access to information is the critical foundation for humans to survive, thrive, prosper and help others prosper. We hope that our customers, future customers, and publishing partners will find our program something to rally behind, both in support of what we’re doing and for pursuing their own social responsibility initiatives inside of their organizations.”

Reprints Desk is headquartered in Santa Monica, California, and was founded in 2006 by document delivery pioneer Peter Derycz. The company’s content workflow and compliance solutions help customers effectively use peer-reviewed scientific literature in research, regulatory submissions, education and product promotions.
