If Customer or any authorized user accesses or uses Model Context Protocol (“MCP”) integration functionality made available through the Article Galaxy Platform, these Article Galaxy MCP Terms (the “Article Galaxy MCP Terms”) are incorporated into and made part of the Service and Subscription Agreement (the “Agreement”) by and between Reprints Desk, Inc. (“RS”) and govern Customer's and authorized users’ access to and use of the MCP Integration and related artificial intelligence (“AI”) features, including Customer’s use of scholarly content in connection with such functionality. Capitalized terms not defined in these Article Galaxy MCP Terms shall have the meanings given to them in the General Terms & Conditions

1. MCP Integration Terms & Conditions

1.1 Grant of License. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Agreement and these Article Galaxy MCP Terms, RS hereby grants to Customer a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, limited right and license to access and use the Article Galaxy Platform, including MCP Integration functionality, through supported LLM applications solely for the purposes specified below. For the avoidance of doubt, the foregoing license grants only a right to access and use the MCP Integration as a feature of the Article Galaxy Platform and does not grant Customer any ownership of, or license rights in, any Documents or scholarly content made available through the Article Galaxy Platform except as expressly set forth in the Agreement.

1.2 Content Rights. The MCP Integration facilitates access to scholarly content but does not confer any rights to such content beyond those obtained by Customer from applicable third-party rights holders. Customer acknowledges that RS acts solely as a service provider to facilitate the identification and retrieval of Documents and scholarly content at Customer’s direction and does not license or otherwise grant any rights in such Documents or content. Customer is solely responsible for ensuring that its access to, use of, and any downstream use of such Documents or content (including through any LLM application) complies with applicable law and all third-party rights and usage restrictions. Where Customer requires re-use or additional rights for Documents or content surfaced through the MCP Integration, such rights, if available, must be obtained directly from the applicable third-party rights holder or through services made available via the Article Galaxy Platform, subject to availability and applicable fees. RS does not monitor, control, or enforce Customer’s use of such Documents or content and assumes no responsibility for Customer’s use, misuse, or downstream use of such Documents or content.

1.3 No Warranty as to AI Outputs. RS makes no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of any Output generated by an LLM application in connection with the MCP Integration. Customer acknowledges that AI-generated responses may contain errors and that RS's role is limited to facilitating access to scholarly content through the Article Galaxy Platform. Customer further acknowledges that such Outputs are generated through automated processes by third-party LLM applications in response to Customer inputs and may incorporate, summarize, or otherwise reflect third-party content, including scholarly content accessed through the Article Galaxy Platform. RS does not generate, review, control, or validate such Outputs and has no obligation to do so, and shall have no responsibility for the content, accuracy, legality, or permitted use of any such Outputs. Customer is solely responsible for evaluating and determining the appropriateness of any Outputs and for any use of or reliance on such Outputs, including any downstream use thereof and ensuring that such use complies with applicable law and third-party rights.

1.4 MCP Functionality; No Expansion of Rights. Customer acknowledges that the MCP Integration is a feature of the Article Galaxy Platform that enables the retrieval and presentation of scholarly content in response to Customer inputs through supported LLM applications. The MCP Integration does not alter the ownership of, or rights in, any content made available through the Article Galaxy Platform and does not grant Customer any rights beyond those expressly provided under the Agreement, any applicable order, or by applicable third-party rights holders (including, where applicable, any separately licensed rights such as text and data mining or other content management rights). Without limiting the foregoing, use of the MCP Integration does not expand Customer’s permitted use of any content or any Outputs, all of which remain subject to the terms, conditions, and restrictions set forth in the Agreement and any applicable third-party rights. Company’s role is limited to enabling retrieval and delivery of content in response to Customer inputs, and Company does not control, direct, or determine Customer’s use of content or Outputs within any LLM or downstream system. Customer is solely responsible for such use, and RS shall have no liability arising from Customer’s use of such content or any Outputs generated in connection therewith.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of these Article Galaxy MCP Terms, the following terms have the meanings set forth below:

2.1 “MCP INTEGRATION” means the technical implementation that allows scholarly content accessible via the Article Galaxy Platform at Customer’s direction to be accessed and retrieved through a Model Context Protocol connection in response to end-user prompts within supported LLM applications and presented to such applications as contextual information in connection with user queries.

2.2 “MODEL CONTEXT PROTOCOL” or “MCP” means a standardized protocol that enables secure, controlled connections between LLM applications and external data sources, allowing contextual information to be provided to the model during user interactions without training the model on such data.

2.3 “TOOL USE” means a single invocation of the Article Galaxy MCP Integration by an authorized end-user through a supported LLM application that triggers a retrieval of content from the Article Galaxy Platform. A Tool Use occurs each time the MCP Integration is called, regardless of the number of results returned in the response.
