We've spent the last quarter building capabilities that fundamentally change how you order, discover, and manage scientific literature. From bulk ordering up to 50 articles at once to deeper citation intelligence integrated directly into your workflow, these updates are designed to save you time and give you better control over your research process.
Order Up To 50 Articles At Once: Bulk Ordering Is Here
Article Galaxy's bulk ordering feature transforms multi-article ordering from a tedious, repetitive task into a single, efficient workflow. Add up to 50 articles to your cart at once by pasting DOIs or PubMed IDs, or drag and drop reference files directly into the search interface.
Key Benefits For Researchers:
- Flexible Input Methods: Paste up to 50 DOIs or PubMed IDs into the search bar (Article Galaxy automatically recognizes and encapsulates each identifier), or upload reference manager files in RIS, NBIB, or BibTeX format. Your articles populate instantly, ready to review and order.
- Smart Filtering Before You Order: Filter search results by intended use to see which articles are available under your specific access rights before adding them to your cart. Visual indicators show granted versus not-granted articles at a glance, with purchase options displaying when articles require additional purchase. One intended use per cart ensures compliance with licensing terms.
- Single Checkout Experience: Review your complete order including delivery method, intended use, and cost breakdown before finalizing. Add individual articles as you search, track your cart total and item count at the bottom of the screen, and receive one confirmation email per cart with individual order IDs for easy tracking.
- Instant PDF Access: Once your order is placed, immediately available PDFs display Open PDF buttons for instant download. Access your complete order through My Orders and save articles directly to Article Galaxy References folders. Most articles deliver immediately; complex fulfillment requests may take up to 48 hours.
- Export Re-Use Rights Data: For customers who license re-use rights, bulk export rights information for all articles in your order to Excel or CSV format. Export options include RIS for reference managers, standard Excel or CSV spreadsheets, and Excel with complete re-use rights data tables. Use cases include organizational record-keeping, compliance documentation, rights verification across multiple articles, and creating a single source of truth for re-use permissions.
Getting Started: Click the cart icon in your Article Galaxy navigation menu. The bulk ordering feature is enabled at the account level. Admins can contact Account Managers for configuration adjustments.
Smarter Citation Intelligence Built Into Your Workflow
We've integrated Scite's powerful citation analysis capabilities deeper into Article Galaxy, giving you richer context without leaving the platform.
In-Platform Citation Exploration
Citation details from Scite now open in a right-hand panel within Article Galaxy instead of redirecting you to external sites. The panel displays Scite categories (Citing Publications, Supporting, Mentioning, Contrasting) with their respective counts, and you can filter and view articles associated with each category directly from the interface.
This functionality is now available in your PDF Library and My Orders, keeping you fully within the Article Galaxy environment while you explore citation relationships.
AI-Assisted Citation Lookup For Faster Ordering
The Order Form and Admin interface now include smarter citation lookup capabilities, reducing time spent on manual data entry and minimizing citation errors.
Type an article title or phrase and use the Fill With Smart Citation button to open a right-hand panel displaying intelligent suggestions powered by Scite data. Once you find a relevant match, click Fill Citation to automatically populate all citation details needed to complete the order.
New API Endpoints For Enterprise Systems
API Endpoint: Title-Based Article & Journal Search With Rights Data
Partners can now use a new API endpoint to perform targeted searches for articles or journals by title and retrieve corresponding Re-Use Rights information in a single programmatic operation. This endpoint accepts up to 100 titles or journal names per request, returning structured results including metadata and re-use eligibility for each submitted title or journal.
The API dramatically expands search flexibility by enabling title-based and journal-based discovery at scale for external systems and integrations.
API Endpoint: High-Volume Re-Use Rights Queries
Our Re-Use Rights API now supports queries of up to 100 DOIs, PMIDs, or Standard Number and Year combinations in a single API call. The endpoint returns detailed results for each item, including the identifier queried, complete re-use rights information, and clear status messages for items not found or when systems are temporarily unavailable.
This increases efficiency and scalability for enterprise customers integrating rights management into their own systems, reducing API call volume and speeding up data retrieval for compliance workflows.
Expanded Content Access
Book Chapter Instant Delivery
Auto eSourcing for Book Chapters allows book chapters with available PDFs to be instantly deliverable through Article Galaxy, automating what was previously a manual sourcing process. This capability has been enabled for major publishers including Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Oxford University Press, Mary Ann Liebert, Wolters Kluwer, and ACS. Users receive requested content faster and more seamlessly, reinforcing Article Galaxy's position in speed and accessibility of scholarly content.
Interface Improvements That Give You More Space
Redesigned Navigation
Article Galaxy's new menu and header design introduces a more compact left-hand menu with refreshed icons, offering a cleaner interface that optimizes screen space. User-related functionalities have been grouped within the User Context Menu, simplifying navigation. Customer logos now display in the top left corner, reinforcing customization options. The redesign provides significantly more workspace, particularly benefiting users with smaller screens or lower resolutions.

Beyond improving visual clarity, this update lays the groundwork for future innovations and creates a more scalable interface across the Article Galaxy ecosystem. The Admin interface has also been updated with the same refreshed menu and header design, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across environments.
Additional Improvements For Smoother Operations
Enhanced Username & Email Support
Updated validation rules now support usernames and email addresses that include consecutive hyphens ("--"), ensuring formats commonly used by large organizations are fully supported. This removes unnecessary friction during account creation and improves compatibility with external identity systems.
Better PDF Library Access
The PDF Library now fully supports PDF viewing and sharing for any manually ingested file, regardless of whether a DOI or PMID is present. Previously, manually added PDFs without these identifiers couldn't be opened through the View PDF button or shared using the Share Link option. This eliminates a frustrating limitation and ensures all valid PDFs remain accessible.
Clearer Word Add-In Authentication Behavior
To improve clarity for users working across both Article Galaxy and the Word Add-In, we've introduced an awareness message within the Add-In explaining the system's sign-on limitations.
When you sign into the Word Add-In while already logged into Article Galaxy, the Add-In displays an informative notice explaining that Article Galaxy will be logged out due to security requirements. This message is concise and non-intrusive, reducing confusion and ensuring you understand authentication behavior across both tools.
