Quality Conference and Events: Research & Knowledge Management

In-person industry events are coming back, and we couldn't be more thrilled. We just returned from BIO-IT World, and we’re looking forward to the chance to attend many more in-person conferences as they become available!

Of course, we appreciate the industry’s pivot to virtual and hybrid events, too (in September, we attended NWILL and SLA Pht). The quality of virtual conferences over the past two years has been phenomenal. Big kudos to event planners across industries!

At Research Solutions, we see the option to attend events remotely as a great benefit, which gives us the flexibility to participate in a higher number of stellar events.

That said, there's nothing quite like the energy and connections that come from meeting, presenting, discussing, and mingling face-to-face. Sometimes the best moments come from those on-the-fly conversations that happen between sessions, in the halls, and impromptu after-hours meals.

In today’s uncertain and ever-changing events climate, we’re seeing event organizers find it necessary to change plans suddenly (e.g. revert from a planned live event back to virtual-only model) due to ongoing challenges in health, safety, and travel.

For event organizers and participants alike, planning ahead is no easy feat. And remaining flexible is critical.

We are in the midst of planning our upcoming conferences schedule—and we’re very excited to confirm that we’ll be at the Charleston Library Conference Nov. 1-5, 2021. This year’s conference is a hybrid event, and our team will be participating both live and virtually. If you’ve never attended Charleston, here’s some information to help you decide if it’s a good fit you:

“[Charleston Library Conference is] an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials. . .  to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection development librarians, and many, many others.”

Will you be attending Charleston, too? If so, drop us a line to let us know. We'd love to connect (in person or virtually), say hello—and talk about all things research and knowledge management.

Speaking of all things research and knowledge management, we'd like to invite you to join us for our upcoming webinar series. Broken into three 40-minute sessions, our industry experts will examine the most pressing questions researchers face when it comes to accessing and managing scientific, medical, and technical research articles.
