A few memorials, the Capitol Building and a librarian conference

Posted in Conferences on July 20th, 2009 by Matthew

We were in Washington, DC, last month for the annual conference of the Special Libraries Association. While Richard and Shane had both been to DC before, it was my first time there. In fact, it was my first time on the East Coast. I’ve explored up and down the West Coast, but haven’t ventured much further than Utah in my travels. Since we happened upon great weather, I still don’t understand the whole East Coast muggy weather thing, but we’ll be back at the end of July. I’m sure then we’ll have the pleasure of being surrounded by the thick summer air… at least, that’s what I hear.

Richard and I had to pull some strings, but luckily we were able to get a few minutes with the President. He was gracious enough to let us take a picture with him as well.

We walked around the city and, of course, had to see the Whitehouse.

Remember that episode of Seinfeld with the puffy-shirt? Well, we do and laughed out loud when we saw it at the Smithsonian.

Like I said, we’ll be back in DC at the end of July for the annual AALL conference. If you’ll be in the area and would like to attend the exhibit hall, click here for a free pass. We’ll be exhibiting at booth 735, so stop by and say hi if you’ll be there.
