In just a few days from now, we’ll be flying into New Orleans for the SLA 2010 Annual Conference. This will be Research Solutions’ third year exhibiting at the event, and if it’s anything like the last two, it’ll be a great time! It’s a chance for us to meet some of our clients, talk to folks who haven’t heard about us and, overall, to enjoy the librarian community. Also, exploring New Orleans won’t be so bad!
We’ll be at the INFO-EXPO, which typically is a large conference center hall dedicated to the exhibiting vendors. It’s a place for attendees to walk around in between sessions, and learn about products and services that are offered. No Comments »If you’ve come by our booth at any conference in the last couple years, you’ve most likely walked away with a few of our buttons. These buttons have been a surprise hit, and this year, we’d like to bring some new ones with us to the conferences. In order to do so, though, we need your help! First, look below to see what we’ve already used in the past. Then, send me an email when an idea hits you. What we’re looking for is witty and funny, with some idea of a visual to go along with it. Now, we’ve received some ideas in the past that… well, they would be inappropriate to use. If we end up using your idea, though, we’ll thank you with a gift-card of your choice… and a few of those buttons!
“Hey Bob, you going to the SLA conference this summer?”
“Well, yeah, I was thinking about it. You know, it’s in New Orleans this year, and I’ve been wanting to get down there for a while. What about your?”
“I’m heading down there with a couple other librarians from the office. It’s gonna be a jambalaya of a good time!”
“Ha! Yeah, I heard about it through the document delivery company we use at work, Research Solutions. I guess they’ll have a booth set-up in the vendor area.”
“Oh yeah, I’ve been using Research Solutions for years now! I met them at the conference in ‘08… up in Seattle. They’re great! In fact, they have a comp pass on their website for people to get into the INFO-EXPO, which is the vendor exhibit area. You’ll still have to pay for admission, though, if you’d like to attend the various talks.”
“Hmm… ssounds like something I’ll have to check out. I wouldn’t mind meeting up with a couple people and checking out a few vendors, so maybe I’ll just drive down for a couple days and make a trip out of it. Thanks for the tip!”
“No prob, Bob. They don’t call us ‘Information Professionals’ for nothing!”
That’s right, we’ve secured our spot on the INFO-EXPO floor of this year’s SLA conference, June 13th through the 15th. Come visit us at booth 1632 and help us put a face to the names we see every day. We’ll also be holding a drawing to give away gift-cards to a few lucky attendees.
