Pending Client Approval

Posted in Company News, Research Solutions on January 11th, 2012 by Matthew

***The point: We’ve added “Pending Client Approval” to our list of order statuses. If this appears on you order update, please review the associated notes and respond, letting us know if you’d like to proceed with the request.

If you’ve used our service in the past, then you’ve received an email from us with an update on your order. Typically, this email lets you know that we’ve received your requests and we’re working on them. Sometimes, these update emails may show some of the requests in your order “Completed”, while others are “Canceled” or “Can’t-Filled”. The statuses “Completed” and “Can’t-Filled” are self-explanatory, but “Canceled” seems a bit vague. You may be thinking, “Who canceled the order?” or “Why was it canceled?”

An item is “Canceled” when the request exceeds the maximum cost set by the client, if there’s a delay in obtaining the item or if the citation is incomplete. In an effort to communicate these issues more effectively, we’ve added the status “Pending Client Approval”, which you’ll begin to see in place of “Canceled”.

Our clients will begin seeing this on their order update emails immediately, when applicable. If it shows up on your email, simply review the reason for the alert and respond, letting us know if you’d like to proceed with the request.

If you use DocTrac to manage your orders, you’ll also see a new button on your homepage that will allow you to show those requests that are “Pending Client Approval”. Please review these requests and let us know if you’d like us to proceed.

After thirty days, a “Pending Client Approval” request becomes “Canceled”. However, it is not removed from our system, and the request can be approved at any time.

Happy Holidays from Research Solutions!

Posted in Company News on December 22nd, 2010 by Matthew

In traditional holiday spirit, Research Solutions celebrated the end of another year by throwing a party. This year, we held it at a local favorite, the Gooney Bird Bar & Grill in Chico. As in years past, the festive evening included a bit of competition, some interesting conversation, and of course, a gift exchange.

Zach picks a winner while Chris looks on.

Since we tend to keep pretty busy throughout the work day, it’s always nice to have a chance to relax and get to know the people you spend your days with a little better.

Good food & good times!

To our clients, thank you for another wonderful year of serving your document retrieval needs!

Cheers!

Our New Digs

Posted in Company News on July 27th, 2010 by Matthew

For the fourth time since the company began back in 2002, Research Solutions has moved into a new office. You may be thinking, “So what? It’s probably just another faceless office with no character.” Well, my friend, you are wrong.

This time around, we moved into a Chico business park called Philadelphia Square.

The interesting thing about this business park is that all of the buildings, about thirty of them, are modeled after historic buildings in Philadelphia. For instance, there’s Betsy Ross’ House, the Federal building and the Capitol Building.

We’re in the Franklin Library.

The sign out front says it serve as the first Library of Congress, which, considering the nature of our business, is interesting.

At the very least, this place definitely provides a more interesting lunchtime stroll!

We Need Your Ideas For New Buttons!

Posted in Company News, Conferences on May 6th, 2010 by Matthew

If you’ve come by our booth at any conference in the last couple years, you’ve most likely walked away with a few of our buttons. These buttons have been a surprise hit, and this year, we’d like to bring some new ones with us to the conferences. In order to do so, though, we need your help! First, look below to see what we’ve already used in the past. Then, send me an email when an idea hits you. What we’re looking for is witty and funny, with some idea of a visual to go along with it. Now, we’ve received some ideas in the past that… well, they would be inappropriate to use. If we end up using your idea, though, we’ll thank you with a gift-card of your choice… and a few of those buttons!

The Beginning of the Conference Season

Posted in Company News, Conferences on April 27th, 2010 by Matthew

Our conference season starts a little early this year as we sponsor a joint dinner meeting between the San Francisco and San Andreas chapters of the SLA. The topic of the evening is how to offer mobile services to library users, with a presentation by the Librarian in Black, Sarah Houghton-Jan. Ms. Houghton-Jan is the Digital Futures Manager for the San Jose Public Library, and was successful in helping her library become one of the first to use downloadable mobile applications. The dinner will be held at the Astaria Restaurant in San Mateo on Tuesday, May 11th, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Visit the SLA website for additional information.

Research Solutions at the 2010 NOCALL Spring Institute

Posted in Company News, Conferences on March 23rd, 2010 by Matthew

NOCALL 2010 Spring Institute

NOCALL will be celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this weekend at the 2010 Spring Institute, and Research Solutions will be there. We’ll be exhibiting during the breaks amid the substantive programming members will enjoy. Given that the topic of conversation will include piracy and copyright infringement, we invite you to stop by our booth to learn how these issues relate to commercial document delivery. We’ll be able to answer your questions on a case by case basis and enrich your understanding of this timely issue. Also, in addition to giving away gift cards to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble, you’ll be able to plunder and pillage our loot. We have plenty of pens for you to stock up for the next few months and a sufficient supply of letter openers.

Visit the NOCALL website for more info on the Spring Institute and to check out the scedule.

Hope to see you there!

It’s so hard to say good bye

Posted in Company News on January 26th, 2010 by Matthew

Two-thousand-ten, twenty-ten… no matter how you say it, it’s no secret that many people have high hopes and expectations for this year. We all make our New Year’s resolutions and foresee positive change in the months to come. Well, we didn’t have to wait long for some pretty big changes at Research Solutions; they came before the New Year even started!

First off, one of the founding partners, Dr. Richard Coyle, decided it was time to retire. After years of teaching psychology at the local university and running a private practice, Dr. Coyle tried his hand at entrepreneurship by starting Research Solutions with Shane Hunt, Chris Atwood and his son, Ryan Coyle. After nearly eight years of doing business, he’ll be spending time on the greens and travelling with his wife. While his good-nature and sense of humor will be missed at the office, Shane has taken over his responsibilities and presides as Director of Marketing and Sales.

Pete Dunning, our Operations Manager, also chose the beginning of 2010 to be a time of change. Pete, a childhood friend of Ryan Coyle, was the first hired employee at Research Solutions. Initially, his duties centered on data-entry and keeping the office clean. As the business grew, Pete began searching for our client’s requests, and eventually came to oversee all the office operations. While we all thought that sooner or later he’d pack his bags and head to Las Vegas for the promise of the poker tables, he decided to try his own hand at entrepreneurship. He and his old friend, Ryan Coyle, will soon be going live with a website dedicated to car-enthusiast of all types, Road Royalty. He will be missed, but has left the office in the capable hands of our former Delivery Manager, Heather McNary.

While these departures have left an empty space in our office, we’ve been busy welcoming new additions to our team and creating a positive work place. As always, we’ll working hard to make document delivery easy!
